Speaker: Virpi Roto
Prof. Virpi Roto is best known of her research on user experience (UX definition, evaluation, and design), which she started early 2000’s in Nokia Research Center. Since 2011, she has worked at Aalto University, Department of Design, e.g., as a Professor of Practice in Experience Design. She has developed the practice of user experience design through studies in work contexts of heavy industry. In several projects, her team has focused on how the transformation of work by intelligent technology could improve employee experience and wellbeing, and how to design those intelligent systems. Since human wellbeing should be the primary success factor for designing intelligent systems, Virpi suggests that new technologies at work should be designed as services for the employees. This has led her to develop a methodology called Service Experience Design, which combines user-centric experience design with service design that aims to create value for all stakeholders needed for service delivery.
